Wild Wild Horses
Dilemma in a Magnificent World
We've been thinking more and more about these grand and elegant creatures.
You may be aware of the efforts by good people to protect them, and other good people to tightly control their populations.
The dilemma goes something like this:
In large enough numbers, wild horses can consume large amounts of vegetation, leading to overgrazing in competition with cattle and sheep. They can affect the livelihoods of ranchers, homesteaders and farmers in other ways too - for example the costs of extra fencing and water availability and protection.
All that being said, surely we can agree as a society that want to protect these animals and ensure they survive and thrive.
Surely there can be honest and reasonable discussion when conflicts arise?
We sure hope so.
